When I saw this on twitter my only assumption was that Avalanche are secretly working on it for post launch, why would a modding community suddenly give up before the game is even released?

Especially with tens of thousands of people looking forward to this mod. Also remember guys they are releasing JC4 as Singleplayer only but as Francesco stated “we do not exclude it in the future” yes all this is vague and still just a possibility but I look at this as good news for the future and I remain humble and optimistic about its inclusion post launch. They said they do not exclude multiplayer in the future and they want to release it as a Singleplayer, and that main reason is why many companies are now releasing the multiplayer after launch so it won’t hurt the rating. Game companies can be very sneaky and secretive about what they are adding in the future they will do everything to cover it up till they feel comfortable talking about it and not releasing it, especially with something so big as multiplayer, and honestly the Creator of the MP mod getting hired 2 years ago is a good indication, now this is a better indication because these passionate people don’t feel they need to make a mod for JC4 anymore. Yes we don’t know for sure and it could just be a conspiracy, but I’m remaining optimistic about it and staying hopeful.

Hope for the best expect the worst, there’s no reason to just shoot down the potential of it being in there eventually. The creator of the multiplayer mod who got hired is already known to be working on a different project within Avalanche. Most likely their co op shooter Generation Zero. And if they really were planning a official multiplayer they would be using it for marketing to help sell copies. It would make no sense to hold off and announce it later when people can get the game cheaper. On top of this unless they are planning to load up this fabled official multiplayer mode with microtransactions or charge for it separately (both of which would gain them large amounts of fan backlash) then there is no real value in them spending all the time necessary post launch to add it unless again they were using it as a marketing tool to sell more copies now. Also the mod creators didn't quit because they didn't feel the need to make it.

In their own words posted on this subreddit 'we've made 4 multiplayers in 3 franchises so far. It's time for something new. Another reason was the fact that the Just Cause franchise already got 2 free multiplayer mods made by its fans. That's more than enough in our opinion, we think another multiplayer modification would hurt the franchise'So like I said, a reason for leaving: wanting to work on something different. And at no point did they say there was no need for a mod. Just that they themselves weren't going to do it.So to put it simply it's flat out not going to happen for JC4.

Mod

If there's any chance of Just Cause getting official multiplayer it will be with a future installment, not this one. And no amount of blind optimism is going to change that, all blind optimism will do is lead to people being disappointed because they got their hopes up for something that evidence already shows isn't happening. If you are going to hope then hope for things that can be reasonably backed up. Be optimistic the game will run better based on the new engine.

Be optomistic that the world will be improved based on footage shown. There's no reason to be optomistic about something the evidence and statements already discount. Listen I understand why you are being so pessimistic the fact is we both don’t know for sure and we both are not right.

By the way optimism not going to mislead people because optimism means being to open to whatever happens. A direct quote from Foote himself is this “As part of Avalanche, I'll be able to bring many of the things you know and love from JC2-MP into future Avalanche experiences, while reaching heights that a mere mod couldn't facilitate.” I don’t see why you want to fight the possibility of MP in JC so much lol it would be so amazing, but whether or not it happens is up to the developer not us so that’s why i am staying optimistic cause it could go either way post launch and that way I don’t get let down. It's not being pessimistic, I'm facing reality.

There is evidence directly stating there will not be multiplayer in JC4 as said by Avalanche themselves. And again it is a known fact that Foote is not working on Just Cause. He is not with the Just Cause team at all. He joined Avalanche Sweden who are working on Rage 2 and Generation Zero. Avalanche New York are the ones making JC4.I'm also not fighting the possibility of multiplayer being in Just Cause in the future. It just won't be in JC4. Future Just Cause games maybe but they have already said no to JC4.

You can shove your head in the sand and try to ignore the outright facts all you want but the devs have spoken clearly that its not happening for this particular game.
