Skyrim Missing Textures Fix

  1. Skyrim Missing Animal Textures

Hi everyone,For some time I've been experiencing a bug that drives me a bit mad, but I cannot resolve it no metter what I do. From time to time the game starts treating the body textures of the characters in a very weird way. The textures either turn pitch black or jsut have a strange colour.

I'm using body replacers for both male (better males) and female (XCE). Sometimes it influences the body, sometimes the head, rarely both at the same time.

Quitting and reloading the game fixes this, but it does apper again after some time. Does anyone have an idea what might be causing this? Thanks for any help.Posts: 3497 Joined: Mon Jul 17, 2006 11:45 pm.

I just experienced this problem as well. Never saw it in almost 300 hours but now my dude's body and feet (not his hands) has that black 'jacket' on it. I've reverted to old game saves and it's still there.

Unlike the op, I only see it on my character, and reloading the game does not resolve the issue for me. I'm gonna look into this further, but yea dude, you're not the only one. I'm suspecting right now it may have something to do with the Frostfall mod, but I certainly don't want to jump to conclusions or assume anything. Too many people do that as it is.

If I find a fix, you will find it here. I don't see how it could be your graphics card overheating if everything else is working correctly.Posts: 3373 Joined: Thu Nov 23, 2006 12:57 pm.

The problem I have does effect my character as well. I was fiddling with my graphic card settings a bit and tried to reduce its temperature, but to no avail, but I hesitate to say that this is not the problem. Very rarely, I also experience various pieces of armour to appear violet (meaning only the normal map i applied, not the colour one), this happens on vanilla pieces of equipment without any mod changing them.

I try to reduce the strain the game puts on my graphic card (the game auto detects High settings, but I run on medium or lesser with only the specular distance increased) and it does not seem to help much.Posts: 3473 Joined: Wed Oct 25, 2006 10:51 pm. Had it before in the past, it's due to the texture changes.Mine had a slightly different error though, whenever one of those 'glitched' NPC's was on screen my FPS would drop to like 2-3fps, as soon as they left the side of the screen, popped back up to 40fps, quicksave, exit, uninstall the texture changes, restart, reload, look at NPC, ta-da, all fixed. It only happened to me on the 'Better Males' mods and 'nvde Males'.My current body textures aren't messed up and have been working flawlessly for. Well, long enough to know that it was one of the 2 mods above that caused it.(My current character textures are UNP for female, and a variation of the Better Males mod)Posts: 3557 Joined: Wed Apr 11, 2007 3:02 pm. One sec I will post you a link.use the 'nvdes - SundraconMeshes - FlaccidVersion' V2.3I have not seen any of the anomalies mentioned using this mod, thus far.Well, I re-downloaded the mod and from what I can see, the version I use (the one with vanilla undergarments) is the same. I will try to use the textures from the variant you mentioned and see if that helps.

So far I could test it for only few minutes.Posts: 3328 Joined: Wed Jul 11, 2007 5:40 pm. Well, I fear i must say that the problem persists. I still get these problems even after reintalling the mod. The textures do not only turn pitch black, but sometimes just have a different shade, like being lighter/darker then they should be. Almost seems like for some reason they do not deal with light well. That is so tiresome!EDIT:I'm not sure if I described the probem well and since a picture is worth more then hundred words, here are some pictures. It is still the same body just with different position and thereofore different lighting.

Faces

Since the problem affects only bodies and feet (have not seen a head or hand affected) and since I do not have any mod that would chnange the body mesh, I suspect that the probem lies within the body textures taht come with the better males mod. Does anyone konw what kind of thing could cause this to happen. Is it possible that the textures do not have the right format or anything?Posts: 3357 Joined: Tue Dec 12, 2006 4:31 pm. I've got the same issue. Mine only effects women since I'm running a female replacer only. It doesn't effect all of them which makes me think there're some other variables like dirt layer or races or something.

For now it's fairly seldom and not a game breaker for me so I'll keep things as they are.I used to have this with females as well, but now, the play fine, or maybe the male bug appears sooner and it always forces me to quit and reload. Which female body replacer do you use BTW? Also, my bug works a bit differently on males. Once it kicks in, it effects all males in the game regardless of race or anything.Posts: 3387 Joined: Wed Oct 04, 2006 9:59 pm. Sounds to me like one too many large textures and you are running out of ram / vramUse Skyrim Performance Monitor a bit buggy with the fps in the current version (does not work on my machine) - But at least it will tell you if your machine is consistently head butting the upper amount of VRAM your graphics card can handle (512mb 1024mb.

Whatever it is) with your current load of mods adding to the vanilla textures size.Posts: 3531 Joined: Fri Jul 27, 2007 12:54 pm.
