Chessmaster 9000 Free Download
Chessmaster 10th Edition (as well as Chessmaster Grandmaster Edition) works on Windows 10. However, because it's a bit old (it was released in April 2004), you'll need to keep some things in mind.First, I'd recommend that you uninstall the game (make sure to back up your profile data in C:Program Files (x86)UbisoftChessmaster 10th EditionDataUsers before you do this). After you uninstall, reinstall the game. Using File Explorer, view the contents of the CD and find Setup.exe.
Run this as the Administrator (right-click on the file and select 'Run As Administrator').Make sure that you do a full install. You'll see a dialog box inquiring about DirectX and Adobe Reader. DO NOT install DirectX if the checkbox next to it is unchecked (this is a bit different than installing on Windows 7 and Windows 8).Once the game is installed, make sure that you install the patches, which you can find on the Downloads page of the Chessmaster 10th Edition forum. You'll especially need the final patch, as that allows you to run without the CD in the drive. Check the FAQ page for instructions on how to install the patches.Once done, copy your profile data back to where it was originally.
You should be all set. Please let me know if you have any further questions. HiI have followed your advice on how to get Windows10 to run Chessmaster10 and each time i try i get the same error. The error states that Chessmaster10 is incompatible with Windows 10.I uninstalled the game, then reinstalled it with File Explorer, right clicking on Setup.exe the drop down menu appears and i select Administrator. I proceed with the 3 disc installation and download and install the 2 uk updates (restarting the pc on each update). I Start the game and the box appears with the choice of 3d or low graphics. Then nothing.
I run Windows 10 trouble shooter and it states ' Chessmaster 10 is not compatible with Windows 10'.Please help an old man.Thank you. Usually, a black screen indicates that the correct version of DirectX is not installed. When you re-installed, you should have seen a Dialog box asking if you want to install DirectX. Do you recall if that box was checked? If so, did you uncheck it before continuing?Anyway, here's what I'd like you to do.
Get the first CD, and put it in your drive. Using File Explorer, view the contents of the CD and open the folder named 'DirectX9'. You'll see the file 'dxsetup.exe'; right-click on that file and select to run as the Administrator. This will install the proper version of DirectX needed for Chessmaster 10th Edition. Hopefully that will work. Please let me know if this works or not.I apologize for the confusion.
I did a fresh install of Windows 10 on my machines, and Chessmaster 10th Edition was the first thing I installed afterwards, and the dialog box indicated that I didn't need to install DirectX. Still not having any luck getting Chessmaster 10 to work. I have uninstalled/ reinstalled 3 times now. Installed the patches.restarted computer each time. Trying real hard to follow instructions. Direct box is unchecked, leave it that way etc.I have tried to 'run as administrator' (both on install and trying to open) What I continually get is 'Please login with administrator privileges'.and I do that. Have I lost this somehow in the transition from windows 8 to 10?
