Turn Off Java Auto Updates

I unchecked the options of 'Check for Updates Automatically' on the Java control Panel and then clicked on 'OK'. However every time I opened the Java Control Panel again, the option of 'Check for Updates Automatically' still remained checked. Then I went to select 'Never Auto-Download' under JRE Auto-Download on the Advanced tab. It seemed to have done the similar job.I still wonder why I can't have the option of 'Check for Updates Automatically' remain unchecked.

This scenario seems to occur on all Windows operating systems. Although I've had some trouble keeping one or another Java function from auto-starting (because the settings seem to go back to the defaults with every update), I've always been able to kill them. Unfortunately, I'm stuck on a laptop with no Java installed for reference because the cable for my keyboard died, I believe you have found the three important bits to kill. (You might want to kill the Java quick start service, too.)You might have a registry permissions problem (setting doesn't save) even if you are the Administrator.

Or, you might have security-type software that thinks it knows better than you about having auto update turned on (setting get changed back). The Sysinternals Autoruns app can help here, maybe by exposing a setting or by showing where you might not have have permissions to change a setting somehow.

A security warning box always ask me if I want to let “jusched.exe” run itself and I notice it is Java automatic updater. That constantly spend my RAM and CPU power and for security reasons the best way is to manually update Java. How can I disable java update service on Windows 8?. Open Control Panel, go to the java and untick the automatic update field. If not working, try the following step by step:.Open File explorer, navigate to the installation’s bin directory:C:Program FilesJavajre6bin or C:Program Files(x86)Javajre6bin.

Locate the javacpl.exe file, right-click on it and select “Run as an administrator” from content menu. Go to the Update tab, uncheck the Check for Updates Automatically box and then select “Never”. If you want to disable the plugin to step Java working in IE or Firefox, go to Advanced tab, uncheck the “Enable the next-generation Java Plug-in (requires browser restart).
