Someone just asked this, here's my responseSkyrim remastered is pretty dang amazing. The graphics on it have highly improved which means you don't have to stress about getting graphic mods which can be a huge pain. Special edition doesn't have all the mods but it does have a good amount to make the game a better experience.

Plus with Special edition you download the mods inside the game instead of having to use a whole different program. Only downside to special edition is it doesn't have the most important mod skyui. So you'll have to suffer with the terrible inventory management.Special edition is worth it all I'm my opinion. Unless your in a hurry, grab SSE on sale. You will want it eventually. If your in a hurry or SLE is currently on sale, snag it.

I think you can usually find it for $15-20 most the time now. There is still a lot you can do mod wise with Oldrim that just hasn't made it to SSE yet. But they will, eventually.Grab oldrim if it is cheap and if your in a hurry to start modding.Grab SSE on the next 50%+ sale, you will want it eventually, unless you just end up disliking Skyrim. SSE is worth full price though, so your impulse is to buy SSE, don't feel bad you didn't catch a sale.As for the modding experience (It can become a game unto itself). It is easier to jump in and install mods with SSE than Oldrim.
SSE makes it easy with an ingame menu. It works similar to Workshop titles for Oldrim on Steam. These are also the most dangerous methods of installing mods. Through Bethesda.net or Steam Workshop. You don't have any load order or conflict control to speak of and you will eventually FUBAR your SSE/Oldrim install by installing/uninstalling lots of mods over time. The safer method of installing mods is to take some time to learn to use Nexus Mod Manager and LOOT tools, as a minimum.
These 2 tools provide a safe method of installing, removing, organizing mods and avoiding conflicts. You can also safely add and remove mods with NMM without corrupting your Skyrim install. It also works on both versions of Skyrim. NMM is designed to work seamlessly with the Nexus site and Nexus has FAR more mods than both Steam and Bethesda.net for both versions of Skyrim. The Nexus site is also better organized and easier to research mods on.
. 4 sharesWhen it launched back in, The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim was a very impressive game. Boasting one of the biggest open worlds players had ever seen and a ton of content, this was the pinnacle of ‘s work thus far, earning numerous Game of the Year awards. However, once the game opened up to mods it began to improve exponentially. Modders found ways to tweak the gameplay and the animation, but most importantly they were able to take from a good-looking game to a great looking game. Now that some three years has passed since Skyrim‘s launch, most would figure that the mod community has dropped off, but that’s not the case.
Rather, folks like TESRenewal are still dedicating hours of their day to either making Skyrim better or adding new content to the game. Just look at the and mods that are in the works. Moreover, modders are still trying to find ways to improve the visuals in Skyrim, as indicated by the images seen in the gallery above. NOTE: These are in-game screenshots that have not been altered in any way.Obviously, while we say that the images have not been altered via image editing software like Photoshop, they do come from heavily modded versions of Skyrim. Unfortunately, we don’t know what specific mods each user had active, only that whatever they were puts the game on par with current-gen visuals. To see the full, 18-image selection readers can head over to the, which pools together some of the best screenshots featuring character faces.
As we mentioned, Skyrim has always been a fine looking game, but one that impresses with its scope and scale more so than it’s fidelity and animations. However, the modding community has found ways to prop up those features as well.At some point, though, we hope to see what Bethesda has in store for the next entry in saga both because there are and also because it will give modders a new platform to play around with. What Skyrim mod has impressed you the most?
