As a frequent lurker of the Dark Souls Reddit, I've seen many a post of players asking how to 'Git Gud' or proclaiming that they have finally gotten the 'Gud'.The questions made me wonder, as I myself do not even remember how I got 'Gud'. It seems like it just happened so suddenly, that the determinants of 'Gitting Gud' are hard to decipher. Some would say that to 'Git Gud' is to become a good player of the games. IMHO, 'git gud' describes the way in which SoulsBorne differs from other third-person action games, where typically there's a 'glowing spot' or explosive barrels or something that you're 'meant' to do to beat bosses. You sometimes have the option to wither away boss HP by swinging at it with your weapon, but this is typically prohibitively risky.'

Git gud' is meant to fly in the face of this approach. Live It, Love It, Git It. That phrase has always irritated me when people use it without the tongue stuck in the cheek. I find the Dark Souls community to be generally amazing. Much more cohesive and welcoming than the few others I have had experience with.
